A Mixed Media Installation

Ayman Baalbaki’s artistics trajectory is entwined with that of his Lebanese homeland. Born in 1975, Baalbaki spent his childhood and teenage years escaping violence.

In the below display, the artist draws inspiration from his experience as a refugee to create a work that speaks of both despair and hope. The humour in the excessive piling of personal belongings atop a small car is counter-balanced by the latent absence of any human figure, a poignant reminder of the anonymity that comes with exile.
